The 6th Creative Market happened at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre on 1st and 2nd June this year. Collaborating with Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre’s “Cultural Extravaganza” and with the aim to accommodate more Singapore-based original content creators and supporting organizations, Creative Market 2019 made the exception to make this year’s event a 2-day affair.

As an original content-oriented event, Creative Market had a total of 46 booths comprising of local artists, crafters, sponsors, and partners. A complete list of our participating artists, crafters and sponsors can be found on our official Creative Market website here –

Creative Market was also incorporated with the exhibition and prize-giving ceremony of the 1st Singapore International Original Comics Competition (SGIOCC), with a total of 400 participants from 6 countries – Singapore, Malaysia, China, Australia, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. There were 66 winners from this competition.

The themes for SGIOCC are – “Mission: Gaia” and “Wildlife Symphony”. This newly established competition accepts both traditional and digital illustrations and original one-shot comic entries from a broad range of age groups – Junior, Children, and Youth.

Gold Award Winner for 3 categories and our Guest of Honor- Ms. Lim Bee Furn

The prize-giving ceremony was opened by local Guest-of-Honours from National Arts Council (Singapore) – Ms Lim Bee Furn (Deputy Director, Sector Development, Literary Arts) and Mr. Siah Sheng Yuan (Manager, Sector Development), overseas Guest-of-Honour – Mr Yang Jian Hua (Qingdao University of Science and Technology), as well as executive members and award-winning artists from Comics Society (Singapore)- Ms Yeo Hui San (Vice-President), Ms Yeo Hui Xuan (Visual Arts Director, Artist of “Dream Walker”) and Ms Clio Hui (Communications Director, Artist of “A Deal With Lucifer”).

All prizes are graciously sponsored by TCZ Studio Pte Ltd, Wacom SG, Sakura and RJ Paper.

Local renowned original comic series – Dream Walker also celebrated her 10th year anniversary at Creative Market 2019! Fans had a treat with stage games, exclusive Dream Walker 10th year anniversary prizes and an engaging fan meet with Dream Walker’s artist – the first local full-time female comic artist, Mentor Yeo Hui Xuan.

Stage activities and performances for both days include SPOP singer – Karena Yeo and local performing artistes – D.N.A dance group, as well as 2 informative talks on the local original comic industry, its workings and production by –

1. The Past, Present and Future of Singapore Comics

Mr. Wee Tian Beng (author and artist of long-running local original comic series of 20 years – “The Celestial Zone”)

2. The Intersection of Comic Creation – Traditional X Digital

New-age comic artist talents – Yeo Hui Xuan (“Dream Walker”), Clio Hui Kiri (“A Deal With Lucifer”) and Shen Jiahui (“The Makeup Toolbox”).
