FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1) HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY SUBMISSION IS ACCEPTED?
Your work must be original, you will receive a confirmation email once your submission is successfully sent. If your work is selected, we will contact you personally to provide further details on when and how to start actual production. We regret that we are unable to individually reply to unsuccessful applicants.
2) I AM CURRENTLY WORKING. AM I ALLOWED TO SUBMIT?
Yes, as long as you are above 16 years old, you can submit regardless of your current occupation or place of study.
3) DO I HAVE TO SUBMIT THE FULL 20-24 PAGE STORYBOARD AND ARTWORK?
No, just submit the story summary, character designs and 2 to 4 consecutive pages of a storyboard. We will ask for the full storyboard later if your work is being considered.
4) …CHARACTER DESIGNS?
You can submit as many images you think are necessary to showcase your characters. But minimally, one full-body view and a few typical facial expressions for up to 4 key characters. Each character to have at least 1 image finished in the medium your story is in (eg. color, black and white).
5) MUST MY WORK BE IN JAPANESE MANGA STYLE?
No. As long as you have a good story to tell, all art styles (Manga, American, Cartoon etc.etc.) are welcome!
6) WHAT DO I HAVE TO PRODUCE IF MY WORK IS SELECTED?
Depending on the original concept you submitted, an original story comic of between 20 – 24 pages or 4 panels comic.
7) WILL TRAINING OR GUIDANCE BE GIVEN?
Yes. Selected artists will be guided by the professional editorial panel, headed by local veteran comic artist Mr. Wee Tian Beng. Selected aspiring artists get the full experience of professional publishing, from pitching their story, to polishing the flow and artwork through rigorous quality control from the editorial team.
8) HOW LONG IS THE PRODUCTION PERIOD?
Approximately 6 – 12 months. ( Depending on an individual’s progress)
